Oshkosh awarded $36 million in military contracts
OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — Oshkosh Corp. announced it has won two military contracts with a combined value of $36 million.
The contracts were announced Friday by Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corp.
The largest contract is $26 million from the U.S. Army for more than 100 heavy tactical trucks that are designed to support the Engineer Corps in transporting bridging assets.
The company also won a $10 million Army contract for the application of a self-sealing product on more than 550 tanker trucks to reduce the risk of fire while transporting fuel.

$36 mil is cheap if it saves the life of even one American Soldier, Sailor, Airman or Marine.

I completely agree with your comments. I'm all for keeping jobs in the States and producing as much economic diversity within this state. Cash for Clunkers supposedly boosted the car industry, I figured being rewarded a contract is similar to trading in the old and getting new government vehicles. The better gas mileage comment was a joke. These vehicles are fuel hogs........Who cares there's an endless source of crude, especially where these vehicles will probably end up.

The "old clunkers" the Army has, if they were taken to Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan are usually left there for the new units to take over. Why do people only complain when this will provide jobs to Wisconsin families? Perhaps not NEW jobs, but people keeping their jobs. If the US didn't have a military where would we all be? Think about that for once in your cushy sheltered lives.

Cool. Another cash for clunkers government program. I'm assuming the military is trading their old clunkers in for new, more fuel efficient vehicles?

Well, this is good news. I know quite a few people from Lear have headed to that area for jobs. Can't say I blame them.
