MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee police are investigating the shooting of a European league basketball player who was shot after leaving a gas station.

Officials say 29-year-old Lavelle Felton played for Paderborn last season in Germany's top league, Bundesliga. Milwaukee police would not confirm the shooting victim's identity Thursday, but said a 29-year-old was shot in the head driving away from a gas station early Wednesday morning.

Felton was listed in critical condition Thursday at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital near Milwaukee. A hospital official declined to release his condition Friday.

Felton was a guard and played in 34 games, averaging 10.4 points and 2.4 assists per game as he helped the club reach the Bundesliga playoffs.

"basketball player shot" is being investigated. They did not write "basketball PLAYER'S shot". He was Shot, not "His Shot". i dont see the confusion...

Rooster that was outstanding. This is my fist time reading this article and blogs. Right when I saw the headline and before reading the story, I immediately thought, "What, the referee was not good enough that they had to get the cops involved?" I guess we have a similar sense of humor.

i offer no apology. it was not a joke. it was a poorly written headline. the purpose of the headline is to lead the reader into the story, NOT mislead the reader as to its contents. so, all of you fuddy duddys, ease up. next, why assume black on black or anything. no races were given. and, nonsense killings/murder WILL never end. welcome to the human/inhuman race.
