Midwest Airlines to cut about 100 jobs
MILWAUKEE (AP) — The new owners of Midwest Airlines Inc. say they will cut about 100 jobs from the Milwaukee-area, a reduction of about 9 percent of its work force there.
CEO Bryan Bedford made the announcement Friday.
Most of the cuts will come from Midwest’s Oak Creek headquarters and operations at Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport.
They are back-office and administrative jobs that duplicate jobs at Indianapolis-based Republic Airways Holdings Inc., which acquired Midwest on July 31 for $31 million.
The jobs that won’t be touched include mechanics at Midwest’s maintenance hanger, gate agents and ground crews at Mitchell International, and customer service representatives.
Bedford says the cuts will leave Midwest with around 1,000 local employees.

It's too bad, but I guess there isn't a need for two people to do the same job if one is efficient enough.
