MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Vital Records Office will be closed on Friday as a furlough day.

That means anyone wanting a copy of their birth certificate, marriage certificate or host of other documents held by the office will either have to come in before Friday or wait until next week.

No applications for certificates will be accepted on Friday and no appointments for genealogy services will be made.

The furlough day is the first of eight being taken by the office this year as required under the state budget. The next one is Sept. 4, the Friday before Labor Day.
