UPDATE: Pilot uninjured in crash
The pilot of a crop duster that crashed in Union Township safely exited the plane before it caught fire, according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff's Office.
The single-engine crop duster went down at 9:42 a.m. in a corn field near Kyle and Pleasant Prairie roads, the release says. The pilot, Selwyn Hale Ellis, 47, of Dacula, Ga., was the only occupant and was not injured, the release says.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office remains on scene awaiting arrival of FAA personnel from Milwaukee and DNR officials. The Evansville Fire Department also responded.
