Rock County Historical Society hires new executive director
JANESVILLE—Joel Van Haaften has been named the new executive director at the Rock County Historical Society, according to a press release from the society.
His first day on the job is Sept. 1, the release says.
“Joel brings a wealth of experience from his work in historical societies in other communities,” said Duke Ellingson, society board president.
“We are very pleased that he will be coming to the Rock County Historical Society,” he added.
Van Haaften lives in Fort Atkinson where he has been working as an independent historical contractor as well as doing projects for the Whitewater Historical Society, according to the press release.

Google indicates he has directed the Lombard Historical Society as well as worked as an interpretive staff member at Old World Wisconsin. He has a Master's in historical administration. Congratulations to the society and a big welcome to Van Haaften.
