Surgeon gets 30 years in fatal crash
WAUKESHA — A former surgeon accused of killing a pregnant woman and her daughter in an intoxicated crash in Wisconsin has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Fifty-six-year-old Mark M. Benson pleaded no contest in June to four felonies, including three counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.
In a brief statement Monday, Benson said he will feel sorrow and guilt for the rest of his life and will never forgive himself.
The 2008 crash killed Jennifer Bukosky, who was seven months pregnant, as well as her 10-year-old daughter. Two other children in the car were injured.
Bukosky’s car was stopped at an intersection when Benson hit it from behind. Investigators said he had taken painkillers and anti-anxiety medications, which impaired his ability to drive.

msleo - I'm not sure I understand your post. He was drunk. If I remember correctly, when the story came out last year, he had already been previously charged with several OWIs. Very sad.

Doc should have been drunk. It's proven if you use alcohol and kill you get maybe 4 years in jail, and only if the judge is cranky that day, otherwise you get a slap on the wrist.
