Stormy weekend prompts State Fair deals
The Wisconsin State Fair will try to make up for the gully washers of the weekend by adding deals Tuesday for cheaper admission to State Fair Park and for the day’s grandstand performance.
The fair will offer 2-for-1 admission Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., which means two adults will be able to get into the fair for $9. Fairgoers also will get $2 off of all midway rides from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Fairgoers also can get a 2-for-$20 deal for upper grandstand seats at Tuesday night’s Big & Rich concert with Cowboy Troy and Candy Coburn. Those seats would normally cost $20 each. Those deals are valid only for tickets purchased Tuesday.
Fair officials expected attendance to drop this year because of the economy, but fairgoers also scattered Saturday and Sunday because of the rain.
State Fair spokeswoman Patrice Harris said officials discussed providing a deal early Sunday.
"Then of course with the weather yesterday, we said 'Let’s do it,'" Harris said.
The fair had already scheduled the annual Crazy Grazin’ Day for Tuesday, with reduced prices on select items from certain food vendors from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Harris said.
