Wisconsin lawmakers prep veto change to state budget
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin lawmakers will decide whether they want to republish a portion of the state budget that contains an improper partial veto from Gov. Jim Doyle.
The Legislature in April 2008 prohibited governors from vetoing parts of two or more sentences to create a new sentence. The veto in question deals with a study of facilities for the mentally ill. Doyle cut from three sentences to make one and has acknowledged it was a mistake that went unnoticed in two days of frenzied staff work on vetoes.
Leaders of the Joint Committee on Legislative Organization mailed a ballot to members asking whether the committee should order that portion of the budget republished with a correction.

Apparently, our illustrious (sp?) lawmakers had their collective heads up their collective nether regions. (Once again).

Well, there's a principle here. Seems like this is the least amount of work approach, too.
