JANESVILLE—A pizza delivery driver was not hurt when she was robbed Monday night in the 900 block of Benton Ave., according to Janesville police.

The adult woman was delivering two pizzas at 11:09 p.m. when she was met in the driveway by a man who displayed a handgun in his waistband before demanding her money and the pizzas, according to a press release.

After she handed them over, the suspect fled north on foot. While searching the area, for the suspect, officers found “a fake-looking weapon that resembles a real firearm” lying in the parking lot of a nearby church, said Sgt. Dean Sukus.

A citizen, in the area, told police a person matching the description of the suspect went into the residence at 1121 Milton Ave. Police continued to investigate and arrested Thomas J. McKee, 22, of this address, on charges of armed robbery and a probation violation.

It is stupid to rob a delivery driver they only carry $20 for safety.

SarahB1, you're right about his record. Talk about recidivism -- he's the example in the dictionary. Still, even his property crimes have fallen mainly in the misdemeanor or money penalty zone until now. Looks like they treated him as a drunk with sticky fingers. But this is almost certainly a state pen offense.

Sarah, you completely missed the point of displacedworker's post. Maybe you should quit sniffing whatever it is you're sniffing and get your head straight as well.

localboysince1968, wow, that was one of the most ignorant things I've read in quite some time! Kudos for proving how very much alive stereotypes are and how close-minded people can be.

Donkeykong...yes, we ALL make typo's here and most are very critical of others...but beeferer was funny and that is why some of us read the blogs, to see the dumb things some people think and then to get a good laugh when someone like beeferer or frankthetank comment about the comments.

I hope this young woman was not scarred for life, and stayed calm. It is so wrong when these thiefs confront people with a threat, just to get their money. But this guy will probably get out on a light cash bond or even a recog bond (no money needed), because they need the jail space. He is a loser, and should not be let out. Good job to JPD.

Mr. McKee, please do the World a favor and next time jump in front of the pizza delivery vehicle while it's moving.

localboysince1968- Judging by your atrocious spelling, I think you let the cat out of the bag as far as who "probably just go done" smoking a doobie.

What we should legalize is concealed carry permits for pizza delivery people.

This guy stole from me a few years ago. Thought he went to prison. Probably out on early release. So much for Truth-in-Sentencing laws.

The guy probably just go done smoking a hugh dankangel doobie, and had the munchies but no common sense since he was high. I think we should legalize pot.......
