State film fest open for submissions
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Next year’s Wisconsin Film Festival is open for submissions — about two months earlier than usual.
The festival accepts narrative, documentary, experimental, and animated films or videos of any length from around the world.
The categories are films under 60 minutes by Wisconsin college students or Wisconsin residents attending college in another state, films from filmmakers with Wisconsin ties and general submissions of any length.
The deadline is either Dec. 1 or Dec. 31, depending on the category.
Festival Director Meg Hamel says many of the films are curated from international film festivals, production companies and other industry sources. But she says the films shared through the submissions give the festival a more complex and unexpected appeal.
