Junior A hockey is coming to Janesville.

The North American Hockey League granted conditional approval of Janesville’s proposed expansion franchise during a teleconference Tuesday.

“If we’re not in the end zone now, we’re on the goal line,” said Bill McCoshen of the Wisconsin Hockey Partners.

News of the league vote reached McCoshen about noon Tuesday.

“My plan for the next three weeks is to create a buzz around this team. The hockey community in Wisconsin has been watching this with great interest.

HockeyDad,

You are correct. It would be bottom of the barrel. The junior A team in my city seats almost 5,000 and has multiple luxury boxes. The team is in the same league as Janesville would be joining. And they do sell beer at the games without children being scarred.

biggirl - do you have an "in" with the private association? Otherwise I don't think you have any information to back up your comments.

For anyone who has attended a Junior A hockey game, the rink in Janesville would be at the bottom of the barrel. Nothing to be proud of and I'm surprised about all of the complaining to freshen up this eyesore.

Joker - Janesville only has troubles supporting certain things like Rotary Gardens, when they ask for people to pay a small fee to enjoy it. If it's not free, people complain here. Pretty sad. Many people will attend the hockey games.

Congratulations, Janesville! You'll soon see how investment in a single activity/facility can benefit ALL.

I wish the team well but I have to ask: Who plans on going to these games and where will they play? Janesville has trouble supporting some basic things in town like the Rotary Gardens, Tallman House, downtown stores, etc. How can this team be viable?

So will they be ready for the 2009 - 2010 season? I can't imagine they would be with having to renovate the ice arena.

Watch out, folks, this is a sink-hole. The private association wants it, but they don't want to pay for it. We'll be left footing the bill.

End zone, goal line? Are these people sure of what sport they are playing?

What a joke. Rumor has it that the dinosaur ice system at the arena is once again in need of a part. Janesville's wonderful facility is nothing but a puddle again. Could be a month or longer before its expected to be open again!
