Flood watch in southwest Wisconsin
WINONA, Minn. — The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for southeast Minnesota, southwestern Wisconsin and northeast Iowa into Monday morning.
Forecasters say slow moving thunderstorms have the potential to drop from 2 to 4 inches of rain across the region. The flood watch is effective from 6 p.m. Sunday to Monday morning.
Showers and thunderstorms were moving across large parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin on Sunday. The National Weather Service says a large amount of rain falling in a short amount of time would enhance the risk of flash flooding and mudslides, particularly in the steep terrain around the Mississippi River.
Minor to moderate flooding is possible on the Cedar, Turkey and Upper Iowa rivers in northeast Iowa, the Root River in southeast Minnesota, and the Kickapoo River in southwest Wisconsin.
