USPS to have Simpsons stamps ceremony in Wis.
SPRINGFIELD — The U.S. Postal Service is looking for people who look or sound like one of "The Simpsons."
It's releasing stamps of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson on May 7. The same day, it's holding a contest in Walworth County's Springfield where fans who look or sound like a Simpson can win framed artwork of a character.
"The Simpsons" is the only show to be the sole subject of a stamp set while still in prime-time production. It's its 20th year — the longest-running comedy ever.
A Los Angeles ceremony will be held with show creator Matt Groening.
On May 15, the postal service will hold a ceremony at Mary Woodard Lasker's childhood home in Watertown to release her new stamp. Lasker was an advocate of medical research.

br549: Loosen up. If you have a problem with, “about the thickness of the paper”, call the Gazette. If you have a problem about, “how dumb cartoons for "grown ups" are”, call the people who make them. In the mean time, get a life. You seem to be a bit paranoid.

I believe that the USPS is once again going to raise the rates of first class soon. Apparently this kind of cretinism and the always stellar service is what we get from this obselete organisation. What a pleasure it is to have put 98% of my former business with them into an electronic mode and avoid them almost entirely.
I just went down and got Saturdays useless mail delivery. One piece of wastepaper (advertising) and an important letter for my neighbor from his employer was all that was in my mailbox. It was too much trouble for the incompetant delivery person to put my neighbors mail in his mailbox, and it was too much trouble for the incompetant delivery person to close the door on my mailbox. Therefore a rain soaked letter for my neighbor. I can't think of a more useless outfit than the USPS. I can't think of a more wasteful thing than six day delivery of mail.

It just goes to show the mentality of people these days. That' probably all they understand. Stupid show. Saw one and turned if off. What a waste of time. There are a lot of more deserving people to be put on stamps.

Awards won by The Simpsons:

I suspect the thickness of the Gazette is directly related to advertising revenue. The exact same thing is happening to papers across the country and numerous big city papers have closed. The way things are going we should be happy to have a daily paper that isn't on the verge of folding.
.
Even if it does fold more easily.

I watched The Simpsons occasionally and found it to be funny in its own way, but the most humorous thing to me is that some of you obviously watch it; read this article; wasted your precious time complaining about it, and whine in this blog about the thickness of the Gazette, postal stamps or whatever. THAT is funny.
Hey Bart! Too many people are having cows. *lol*

The Simpsons are a huge part of pop culture, and being on a stamp is a tribute to the show's longevity and following. It's the longest running scripted comedy, even though it's not for everyone. I'm a fan and turn in every Sunday night.
