Janesville police chief hired
JANESVILLE -- Dave Moore, acting Janesville police chief, will be the city's next top cop.
The Janesville Police and Fire Commission this afternoon asked Moore to be the city's police chief.
Moore had been the deputy police chief until becoming acting chief after Neil Mahan retired.
He has been promoted through the ranks of the police department since 1977.
Three other finalists interviewed for the job this week.
They were:
-- Thomas J. Christensen, deputy police chief, Racine.
-- Michael D. Kostecki, former police chief, McHenry, Ill.
-- Bradford L. Woods, former police commander, Chicago.

Congratulations Chief Moore! You paid your dues, got the experience, got the education, and treated people with dignity and respect. You also have your ego in check.
