JANESVILLE--Two elementary school principals will retire at the end of the school year, the Janesville School District announced Wednesday.

They are Madison School Principal Susan Masterson and Jefferson School Principal Alice Wilkens Mann.

This brings to three the number of elementary principals who announced retirements this spring. The third is Neil Bender of Kennedy School.

I for one would like to applaud Principal Alice Wilkens Mann. I am sad to see that she is leaving. Thank you Alice for being a part of my childs life.

Do you notice that all of these comments are wishing only one of the principals a happy retirement? That says a lot to me that no one has wanted to post anything about the "wonderful" Mrs. Wilkens-Mann! How many others are out there that have had Jefferson Elementary experience?

By the way Mrs. Masterson.. my son was never in your school.. but this is not the first time I have heard good comments on your abilities. Good Luck in your future Mrs. Masterson.

Thank you Mrs. Masterson! You are wonderful. The last few years for us at Monroe Elementary were miserable without you. You were a key partner in our oldest son's successful - even now at Craig High School. Our other two did not have the benefit of having you as principal for long - I wish they would have. Have a great retirement!

Nice Gazette Staff! I purposly made sure not to use any foul language in my post and it is still removed! I can not believe that a person that has gone throough the Jefferson school and has experienced it first hand does not have the right to clap and thank the heavens that a burnt out principal is finally getting out of there! Good Riddance Alice!

I sincerely hope that the new principals have an elementary background. Some of the latest ones placed haven't, and a lot of time is wasted catching up.
