LANCASTER, Wis. (AP) — An Easter Sunday horse-drawn wagon ride turned into a frightening ordeal for some family and friends in Grant County.

Sixteen people in the wagon were thrown into a rocky ditch when a piece of equipment on the wagon apparently broke and sent the horses down a steep embankment. Nine of the 16 suffered more serious injuries, including two who were taken by air to University Hospital in Madison. Another injured person was taken by medical helicopter to Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse.

Others were treated at hospitals in Boscobel and Lancaster.

Before I even finished reading this story I knew there would be some sort of discussion about the horses. Yes, there is importance to the well being to all involved, but seriously, these horses don't have moms and dads who are sitting next to their bedside wondering if they are going to pull through. Let's be serious here. I am so sorry a fun thing turned into such a tragedy. I hope all involved make a full recovery, and gazette please do a follow up on their condition (and maybe an update on the horses too for the ones who are concerned).

i hope everyone that was injured recovers fast, it is a little strange that they wouldn't mention the horses since it was an accident that involved them.

Personally, and I know this will draw attacks, but it's true; I like animals way better than most humans, except for very young humans.

I would feel for the horses if they also got hurt, but there is no comparison between horses and kids...

Have you no heart mickie? You must not be an animal lover or you would be concerned for the horses as well as the people.Like rooster said we are all GODS creatures and some would like to know about ALL involved

I used to work on a horse farm when I was a teen and there were some scary accidents. My first thought was for the humans, then I too wondered about the horses.
