From the WCLO newsroom:

A federal Justice Assistance Grant could provide a boost to local law enforcement agencies.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office hopes to apply for the JAG funds on behalf of the cities of Janesville and Beloit.

Assistant County Administrator Josh Smith says the funds would address gang violence and heroin use in the county. He says the agency could buy equipment like computers, cameras and a K9 unit. Smith says Janesville and Beloit would receive larger portions of the nearly $300,000 grant, while Rock County expects to receive about $60,000.

The Rock County Board is scheduled to vote on the application Thursday.

"This is a grant. Equals free money, the JPD, RCSO and BPD would be crazy not to apply and use it."

There is no FREE money. We and our children will pay for it.

Ok 60,000.00 for a K-9 unit, that will be gone after one years salarie and we the tax payer will flip the bill and no one will care;
But say your school is under staffed and students are in crowded class rooms then every one throws a fit saying teachers make to much.
And no I am not a teacher.

What exactly is the "gang related activity" that you witnessed? Please describe what your definition is of gang related activity.

ljs64, as it happens, I called the police yesterday regarding gang-related activity and they appeared within minutes, and a neighbor talked to police about a drug sale problem nearby and they are going to contact the landlord. I'm not sure in which universe this constitutes "ignoring" but perhaps your dictionary is different from mine.

If the City of Janesville ignores the drug / gang problem they have like they did the Tallman House, maybe it will go away or fall apart all on its own.
