The city of Milton will have a new mayor for the first time in 10 years when Tom Chesmore is sworn in later this month.

Chesmore, a city council member, defeated 10-year incumbent Nate Bruce by 15 votes tonight.

Chesmore said the priorities for his first term will be keeping the budget under control and addressing aging public facilities.

If the voters of Milton think they are now better off with Mr. Chesmore as mayor they are in for a rude awakening. Not all change is good and ignorance is always bliss.

It was time for a change. I'm not sure why people think they should stay in these types of leadership positions for more than a decade. None of us are perfect leaders...and it's always good for a city, state, nation, organization to have an infusion of new energy, thoughts, ideas...at LEAST once every 10 years!

Way to go Tom Chesmore. I can't wait to see what happens next. This is just what Milton needs, some new blood.
