JANESVILLE -- Three Janesville men accused of breaking into an East Milwaukee Street home and beating a man appeared in Rock County Court this afternoon.

Fernando Garcia, 29, Victor Garcia, 17, and Isaac Cortez, 18, each face two counts of party to armed robbery, one count of party to armed burglary and one count of party to substantial battery. The Garcias also face one count of felony bail jumping.

The Garcias live at 219 N. Marion Ave., Janesville, but Cortez has no fixed address.

Police believe the attack was over drugs, money and an ex-girlfriend, according to the criminal complaint.

Personally, yes, I find it a little annoying when there are misspellings and little to no punctuation. It's difficult to be able to follow what someone is trying to say, but I'm still able to (usually) make it out. However, I don't feel that this is something that we should ridicule others for or to pick on them. As someone else had mentioned, some people really have a difficult time learning correct grammar and punctuation.
.
There are people in this world that when you SPEAK to them, they seem so intelligent, and they *are*, and they may even be at the top of a corporate ladder, but when you read something they type, you wonder how they made it to the position they're in. All types of people have difficulties in this area and it doesn't mean they're uneducated.
.
My point is, it'd be really nice if people stopped being so anal about grammar and punctuation. If you want to help somebody out in learning how to do these things correctly, then awesome, but if you're just going to ridicule and point out everything they do wrong, then you're not helping at all.
.
*Constructive* criticism works well.

I believe fernando's age is incorrect he is 21 or 22 not 29 read ccap and follow the addesses and birth dates, also nephew knows him and his brother as to previous problems with them. But then who cares what age get them off the streets as they are a threat to the public and need to be held in jail until they are sentenced and I also hope there is no plea deal. And what does it matter if someone misspells something If it bothers you so much go to counseling and get help with your issues of perfection. Just my opinion Not all people have to pretend they are perfect and make mistakes in their spelling and punkuation (punctuation) FYI some people have problems with this and it is really not your job police this sight as to the spelling and such.. GET A LIFE. IMO .

doc0430, the defendants are not required to enter a plea until the preliminary hearing. This probably did not reach that stage today.
.
As all parties are innocent until proven guilty, a plea bargain is always on the table. For a violent armed robbery, I sincerely doubt probation is in the offing.

Janesvillecomments, LOVE the angle that you took on your blog! Maybe we are on the same page...JUST a little too much command and control by the Janesville Gazette? They DO control free speech context and expression when they "OFFER" a format to freely express ourselves through the blog system
, but on certain sensitive subjects the blog site has been "disabled by the staff". Why offer a "blogging forum" if you(the Janesville Gazette) are not willing to hear what your reading public have to say? Shouldn't anyone have the opportunity (within the realm of decency) to say what they think or feel? Mostly, the disabled sites have to do with sensitive subjects such as local government issues that the Gazette supports or an issue with certain local officials that they may find embarrassing. Why exempt these people or subjects of the article from scrutiny or comment by the common man? No matter the subject, if the paper reports it, it SHOULD be subject to open discussion. I personnaly feel that NO local paper should take any side or political agenda. I feel that they should be there to report the news as it happens, when it happens and how it happens with no editorializing(Just the facts ma'am), save this for the editorial page. If I am wrong, I am open-minded enough for debate and discussion, argue your point with me and maybe I will be swayed. I fell stongly enough about this to not hide behind my user name and open myself to debate. So feel free to e-mail me, Charlie Gilmore, at penjo1@charter.net, BUT only if you want to have an intelligent and open discussion. Gazette personnel are more than welcome to reply.

Extra entertainment - an episode of Clue! Who "took out" the missing comment?
.
Was it Scott Angus in the Office with a Word Processor?
.
Was it Ann Marie Ames on the Internet with a Browser?
.
Or could it possibly have been Beth Wheelock on the Server with an HTML Editor?

"Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth." - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
.
(I'm guessing it's one of two cases:

A. There are "sekret komments" which only privileged Gazette employee accounts can read and write.
or:
B. The software the Gazette uses was purchased from the lowest bidder, and has glitches, such as putting the newer comments above previous posts instead of below other posts, like most blogs and message boards do, and occasionally the message counter spasms and increments by 1 without a post to accompany it.

And after all you have said here, I can't believe I'm the only one to notice that there is no mention anywhere if they guilty or not~ so the DAs office could begin working on A plee bargin with these threes attorneys,(which their attorneys names were also left out) probably will get off with some probation or something less.

Anyways.... back to the article... The Garcias are both prior felons? No known address for Cortez? Where did this element come from? What has become of our hometown? This is getting sad. This and a couple of heroin busts each week in the Public Record. Dorothy we're not in Kansas anymore!!!

I know. They covered up the crime spree by printing it in the paper. Clever!

The Gazette personnel jump in to defend themselves quite often...but I have not seen them answer to the above posted question...

"I see that it says "COMMENTS (1)" but I see nothing. I know the staff couldn't have removed it, because then you see the, "(this comment was removed by the gazette staff)" message."

So...what's the deal Scott?

I sure hope the bloggers here did not learn their grammar and spelling in the Janesville School District. WOW!

ljs64: I correct spelling occasionally also, but I'm starting to think that some people just don't care how they communicate. The sad thing is that these same people are frequently misunderstood due to poor spelling, grammar and sentence construction. And they don't understand that they are not understood - it all makes perfect sense to them!
Back to the story at hand, if these people did what they are accused of doing, they are the scum of the earth. I hope they all get some serious prison time, especially the 29-year-old.
