According to the National Weather Service:

Southern Wisconsin will see periods of mixed sleet and snow today, eventually turning entirely to snow. The region could see 1 to 5 inches of snow today and tonight. Blustery north winds of 15 to 30 mph will cause areas of blowing snow tonight.

Well it's monday and there is no snow. I have to be honest and say I'm glad cause I'm really looking forward to spring and flowers etc... But we had a fun day staying in and playing cards with my daughter and her boyfriend! Now back to the old grind..

OLDTIMER..are you taking applications for grand-daughters? LOL, you sound like so much fun! My g-pa and I were the best of buds. I was the ONLY grandkid that wanted to hang with him, and there were boys too. Him and I would go to the "secret" fishing hole quite often, we would get up early in the morning and he would cook breakfast for us, and off we'd go. And then when we were done, and I didn't catch any fish, he would come home and tell grandma the BIGGEST one was mine. Ahhhh, the memories. We used to go out picking berries together too! Oh, and he took me squirrel hunting ONE time, I was too noisy. :) I can't wait for my hubby and son to bring home a turkey this spring. We cook them on the grill. I am so happy that you are still enjoying your hunting. I know my husband would be absolutely lost if he could no longer go out and have his "peace". And I want to be honest, I had NO idea what you were talking about when you said you are a cache hunter, I was like, is this guy a weirdo?? Then I searched it and that sounds FUN! (just kidding about the weirdo...) Have a great day, and let me know where to send that App!

Rummagesalesrock, I know the feeling, you can alway count on morels on Mothers day, but I make sure I check before. I only bow hunt for deer, I use a crossbow which has extented my hunting days. I turkey hunt but not with a bow however I did get a turkey with the bow a couple of years ago. And speaking of treasure hunting one of my favorite hobbies (and I have many) is caching, hiding and looking for other peoples caches with my gps. keep warm

JANESVILLECOMMENTS...I would love some company over here staying safe, we can have our gumbo while drinking a few cocktails and sit next to the nice fire and watch the snow that is NOT falling!!! Oh well, but I was hoping for a last storm. THey are so much fun when you don't have to go anywhere. :)

OLDTIMER..you are a breath of fresh air! Venison chili sure would have been good too! I just made venison roast sandwiches with aujus last week! YUM! Speaking of Morels! OOOOOOHHHHHHH!!!! How I can't wait. That is my absolute favorite thing to do! Yesterday afternoon my husband was laughing at me while we were out back doing wood because I just HAD to take a little venture along the fence lines to 'make sure' they weren't up. He said to me...it's too early honey....I said, you just never know. I know it's too early, but I just have the itch. I go out EVERY day until they are done, it is the best treasure hunt ever~! OH! And Thank you so much for serving alongside my grandfather! You boys went through a lot, and most I am sure we will never know! So, again, thank you!

My venison chilli is going to go good tonight. You have to be mighty hardy to live in Wisconsin, which I have all 83 years except 3 years during WW II. but I would not live anywhere else. A lot of the old timers used to say a late snow was a poor mans fertilizer, (nitrogen). Turkey hunting and the morels will be coming up soon.

Woohoo! Just made some homemade bread, it is rising, and I am about to start some chicken sausage gumbo. A perfect stormy day dinner. I can already smell the bread baking.....stay safe all!
