Evansville native injured in Afghanistan
An Evansville Marine was seriously injured in Afghanistan on Friday.
Cpl. Jacob "Jake" Janes, 23, stepped on an IED and had both legs amputated below the knees, his mom, Stacey Schumacher, said. He also had soft tissue damage to his thighs and hands, but Schumacher doesn't believe that will require surgery, she said.
Janes is in Germany today but could be brought to the United States as soon as Sunday, she said.
Janes graduated from Evansville High School in 2004 and has been in the Marines about three years, Schumacher said. He was chosen as "Marine of the Quarter" in Alpha Company of the Second Combat Engineer Battalion in early 2008.

Klick--You are so inept, this young man was hurt in Afghanistan and your comments about the past administrations actions were about Iraq. Do you really wonder why people disrespect what you are saying when you can't even keep your comments in context?

how sad that people feel the need to come on here and voice their views on the war rather then the personal suffering this family has endured in a short period of time. im sure if you feel the need to voice your opinion on that you can find another blog to do so. jake , his family and friends have a long road ahead of them. they could use more support then ever now, so could you please leave your personal feelings out of this and just wish this young man the best.

and also to klick, this brave and amazing young man was serving in Afghanistan. I do not believe the war in Afghanistan was about OIL or WMD's. Not sure if you remember what happened on 9/11, for me, I shall never forget. God Bless this young man, his family...

to klick...yes, as a matter of fact I do think of them every single day. Not only do I think of them, but I visit them in the hosptials, I also send care packages. I have many friends serving in both Iraq and Afghanistan. I also remember to not say a word as the National Anthem is played, I also stand when the flag goes by in a parade. I also thank ever single one I see in uniform everytime they walk by me. Your comments still remain disgusting to me.

Jake, I for one, as a Former Marine, am proud of you and hope for the best or you. KLICK... this is totally the wrong forum for you to be spouting your politics. Keep it within the context of the article. I am not saying you haven't the right to say what you feel you need to say, only to choose an appropriate place to do it, and this isn't it. Just curious, KLICK, have you ever served? Probably not. Would you like to compare DD214's with me, or better yet, how about with Jake? Maybe I am going off on a bit of a tangent here, but it infuriates me that you belittle the Honor, Integrity and Sacrifice that this young Marine has made to push your politics. Jake, Semper Fi, enough said.

And too think this Young man lost both of his legs because of lies about WMDs, and of course about OIL , now they give him a couple hundred thousand dollars to condone their actions . it only took the Bush Father and son to ruin this Country.
