Humorist Keillor coming to Madison
MADISON — Minnesota humorist Garrison Keillor plans a benefit show in Madison next month to honor his late brother.
Keillor’s brother, John Philip Keillor Jr., died Feb. 27 from injuries suffered in a fall at the Vilas Park ice skating rink in Madison. He was 71.
The son of the late Keillor, Doug Keillor, says his uncle wants the May 6 show at Overture Hall to be both entertaining and a meaningful tribute to his brother.
Ticket prices and other details are not yet finalized. Doug Keillor says the show will not be a live broadcast of his uncle’s "A Prairie Home Companion" radio show.

Keillor, an engineer and civic leader, was a lifelong skater on an outing with his granddaughter when he fell on the way to the ice. Because he had no helmet, the injury proved fatal.

Not a skate park, an "ice skating rink". Big difference.
