Oshkosh lands defense contract
OSHKOSH — The U.S. Marine Corps has awarded contracts worth $28 million to Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corp. that makes advanced military vehicles.
Oshkosh Defense said Monday it will deliver about 200 special armor kits, which help protect military trucks and the troops inside.
The company also will provide more than 200 kits designed to help prevent fuel tanks from exploding. The kits are thick plastic cases filled with fire-suppression powder, which can douse flames immediately if a fuel tank suffers a direct hit. The contract also calls for about 160 vehicle engines.
Shares of Oshkosh Corp. rose 52 cents, or 4.7 percent, to $11.52 in midday trading.
