New poll shows Obama ahead of McCain by 6 in Wis.
MADISON, Wis. (AP) For the second time this week a poll of likely voters in Wisconsin shows Democrat Barack Obama with a lead.
The latest poll done by Research 2000 for WISC-TV in Madison shows Obama ahead of Republican John McCain 49 percent to 43 percent. Another poll released Monday by Quinnipiac University showed Obama ahead 49 percent to 42 percent.
In the new poll, 17 percent say they did not think the country is ready to elect an African-American president. Twelve percent say the country isn't ready for a woman vice president.
The poll shows Obama is more trusted than McCain on handling the economy, the Iraq war and gas prices.
The poll of 600 likely voters was conducted Sept. 22 and Sept. 23 and has a 4-point margin of error.

He would without question be the biggest thing to a Marxist the country has ever elected. However; he won't be able to implement hardly any of his socialist ideas; as after this bailout the treasury will be officially TAPPED! He will then try to raise taxes as a means to generate revenue, and then you will see one of the biggest collapses ever seen of the economy. If you think the economy is bad now, trust me, you have yet to see ANYTHING!...Just hope he doesn't ban shorting of the market, because you will be able to cash in like a bandit when this sucker tanks!

They are out of their mind. Totally wasting $$$ here. This state is totally won by Obama. On Intrade, I think he's like -1800 to win Wisconsin. Pretty much as big of a lock you can get. Who ever is advising McCain that they can win this state is insane. Sure this state was ONCE somewhat conservative, electing Thompson, and yes it was close in 00 and 04, but it's turned very liberal. I am privy to polling data that can back that up. Maybe once we get taxed to death and unemployment goes through the roof, it will then become more conservative again.

I'd take a spot from FOX if they wanted to give it to me, but in all honesty I don't watch much TV news. I get most my material from news sources on-line, from both ends of the spectrum.

kiowamohican, that's an interesting analysis considering that Wisconsin elected Tommy Thompson four times and went for Kerry and Gore by a percentage point. Most of the professional modelers have considered Wisconsin a "lean Obama" at best and even a potential pickup for the Republicans, which is why both camps are spending so much ad money and budgeting visits (from precious time) here.

In order for the economy to stay afloat is if all people keep their heads! I can't imagine why people would allow it to get worse with panic. I do my part by paying my bills!

I hope Obama doesn't win here or anywhere. I can't approve of his 'entitlement' attitude. People need to earn things in this country for a variety of reasons. [None of this opinion is about race]. It is the 'entitlement' thinking that helped these financial giants lend money to the wrong people, and look at what has happened to our economy.

Furthermore, Obama is open to the idea of making medical care more socialized. All aspects of our medical system would fail. I have yet to hear Obama say anything that sounds like he's making a specific point! And I'm actually listening! I would have rather seen a finishline race between Joe Lieberman and Mitt Romney, but I have to choose McCain over Obama. **Remember, I am not a partisan politic lover. I don't believe in it. I am a conservative, but a realist and an American first.**

Those of you wanting Obama in office...Do you even know why you want that? It sounds like empty jumping on the bandwagon to me.

My only comment is that it's no surprise Obama is winning here. I would expect nothing less. I chalked him up to win this state months ago in all my electoral models. If he looses this state he is totally lost. This is a liberal state. We have one of the biggest tax burdens in the entire country. People in this state love big government and high taxes. So it's no wonder why Obama would be ahead here.

I doubt it. Many (including myself) predicted this months ago. Not trying to toot my own horn, but this was easy to see coming. Ken Heebner (who runs a mega hedge fund) called this at the beginning of the year, and is fund held WAMU short (profiting when the stock goes down). Market SHOULD be down tomorrow, but probably more because the bailout deal is all up in chaos now.

I haven't heard either way, but I'd be shocked if the debate doesn't go ahead as scheduled. I haven't decided yet if I think this is a political stunt to push back the VP debates, or if he really is concerned about the financial crisis we're in.
He definitley needed another hail-mary to boost his campaign. He was losing the ground he had gained by appointing Sarah Palin. We'll see.

It shows how scared McCain is of showing up for a debate. He can't speak unless someone writes it out for him first. Palin was kept from the media while she was being schooled on what she can say and when to say it. Then she still blurts out we are heading for a depression unless we do exactly what Bush wants with our $700 Billion. Is she really a blond?

I'm more curious to see the polls from yesterday and today. McCain's political stunt/throwing in the towel is not playing out well for him. The only thing suspended yesterday was any chance of McCain pulling out a win.
Its a shame it takes David Letterman to call him out on his b.s. and not the news orgs.
