High school students to train with police
From the WCLO newsroom:
Janesville's female students age 17 and older are set to begin self defense training Monday.
Director of Student Services Karen Schulte says the Janesville Police SAFE training is also open to female guardians and female staff members.
Schulte says she has taken the training to see what it was like. After she went through the training, she thought would have liked to have known the techniques while she was in school.
The sessions begin Monday at the city's high schools and will be offered once a month.

I think this is a great idea. I wish I could have taken it when I was in high school. I think it will be great for the girls/women who go to bigger colleges in the big cities.
Happycamper~Males are taught how to defend themselves pretty much from birth. They are taught to be "tough guys." Granted it is not meant to be used against women but sometimes it is and women need to know how to defend themselves.

This is good news. I remember taking a self defense class in phy. ed. while attending Craig. It was taught by the phy. ed. instructor and it served its purpose. I think having the police dept. teaching the class will be very beneficial.
