Rock County Board approves cell tower for 4-H Fairgrounds
From the WCLO newsroom:
The Rock County Board approves a cell tower lease that would bring the county nearly $400,000 over ten years.
Assistant to the County Administrator Phil Boutwell says the amount is reasonable to put the tower at the Rock County 4-H Fairgrounds.
A few county supervisors voiced concern at Thursday's meeting that the county was settling for too little money. Boutwell says the main concern from citizens throughout the process is the fate of the tower if the fairgrounds are relocated.
He says there is language in the lease that at the end of ten years, the county may ask the tower to vacate.

Maybe they should start paying taxes to the city of janesville on their land in the city! We do not need a cell tower in the middle of the city!

hannah, it went through committee first; that's probably what you're thinking of.
.
officerfriendly1, it's going to be a monopole design that will have "minimal impact" according to the county. I would expect the base to be at most two yards square -- like a big desk.

.
And yes, if the county is really savvy, they will count this "free money" as a kitty for the future fairgrounds.

I would think its a great start at a fund to move the fairgrounds. $400,000 over ten years is a lot of cash to the county that wasn't expected.

The fairgrounds are owned by the County, not by the City of Janesville.

Great. Thats what we need to make our city...a cell tower in a fairgrounds that is to be moved for to little money. This city sucks more and more every day.
