Computers still a problem
The Janesville Gazette newsroom continued to struggle with computer problems this morning, resulting in today’s issue missing some content, including the TV listings.
Technicians hoped to have the problems fixed in time for production of Friday’s edition.

Holy cow I can't believe A newspaper of this size and advancement, not to mention its revenue would be screwing around days later..... You have A couple of choices #1 Call S/E computers and have them get you back up and running (I Know Brad and he and his guys are the best at fixing what you have BUGGING YA UP) Option #2 for A company of your size this one makes by far the most sense, call Mastercom out of Madison and get your whole system for all of your papers now on ONE SERVER SYSTEM faster safer and more up to date! We pay ALOT for this paper and should not have to sit for this weeks service unless you want to make it FREE while you tinker around with your SYSTEM.......

For slow and clogged files, I just pour two or three capfuls of Drano over the inner-workings and the problems melt away.

Computer fans run a lot of air through the cases and consequently bring in a lot of dust and lint. This can find its way into some of your internet tubes and cause a lot of problems. It's a good idea to use a leaf blower (gas-powered works best) to clear the tubes every week or so to permit large packets to pass through.

I'm wondering if the Gazette stopped feeding the little hampsters on their little wheels that make computers run.
Or, it could be a problem with the series of tubes that make up the internets. Those can get clogged up from time to time.

Huh, ctrl alt delete seems to work when I don't need it to but when I have a program freeze it only makes the screen faded. I didn't have that problem with ME or 98.

Does the EASY button work here?
To quote the great orator Bill Murray; "Did you try staples?"

I find that unplugging the computer and plugging back in solves most of my issues...or it could be all of the swearing I do at it and the threats of putting it out to the curb with the trash...LOL
good luck at getting it fixed soon.

As someone who works in the tech support industry, I would be interested to know what the nature of the problem has been. Something that took this long to fix is major. Obviously, the explaination can wait until things are fixed.
