Council: Evansville will have lake referendum
The Evansville City Council tonight approved adding a referendum on the Nov. 4 ballot to ask voters if they will spend up to $2 million to restore Lake Leota.
The council voted 7-0 on the following language: “Shall the Evansville Common Council approve spending an amount not to exceed $2 million in order to restore Lake Leota?”
Alderman Tom Cothard was absent.
About 30 people gathered to hear the discussion with about a dozen of them speaking, all in some fashion voicing support of restoring the lake.
The dredging project is being put out for bids with the council scheduled to meet Nov. 11 to approve a bid, depending on what voters decide, council President Mason Braunschweig said.

This is great news for the citizens of Evansville. To much money for just a few people to decide and I am very glad they realize that and made the correct choice.
