Arts Center hires new director
The Janesville Performing Arts Center (JPAC) has a new director.
Emily Gruenewald, who most recently served as the executive director of Madison Youth Choirs, will begin her new job on Nov. 10.
Gruenewal will replace Laurel Canan, who is leaving for Ohio. Canan served as the center’s director for the past five years.
“The search committee was very impressed with Emily Gruenewald when we interviewed her. She has wonderful ideas and will continue to build on the strong foundation already established at JPAC by Laurel Canan, JPAC Board President Lisa Stevens said in a press release. “ I am very confident JPAC will benefit from Emily’s experience and her enthusiasm.”
Gruenewald brings more than ten years of arts management experience including a strong background in fundraising.

We will all miss Laurel when we go to JPAC, but are glad to hear she is leaving it in good hands. Thank you to Laurel for all she has done for the arts in Janesville and the surrounding area, and she is leaving JPAC in great standing. Good luck in your new life.
