DNR announces best state parks

MADISON — Wisconsin enthusiasts have named their favorite state parks in 10 categories ranging from best beach to best bird-watching trail.

Park lovers vote on the features every year as part of the state Department of Natural Resources’ Gold Seal Awards program.

Among the winners:

— Best bike trails: Blue Mound State Park

— Best places to watch a sunset: Big Foot Beach State Park and Heritage Hill State Historical Park

— Best beaches: Kohler-Andrae State Park and Whitefish Dunes State Park

— Best fishing spots: Governor Dodge State Park and Mirror Lake State Park

— Best group campsite: Governor Dodge State Park

— Best bird-watching trail: Wyalusing State Park
