MADISON — Gov. Jim Doyle wants all state hiring to go through the Department of Administration.

The head of that agency issued a statement Friday saying that all hiring decisions will have to go through DOA.

Agency Secretary Michael Morgan said the new centralized process is the result of the national economic crisis. He said job offers should be extended and all positions currently in the recruitment stage will be reviewed.

The University of Wisconsin System, state courts and the Legislature are not included.

The requests will be reviewed on a weekly basis.

The University never takes any hits for reducing numbers of employees. They should!!!! UW employees are paid well above the normal state employee.
Check out wages for a state dept vs UW employees, I am sure many of you will be shocked!

onelife2live: No apology needed for being “off topic” or for anything else. I misinterpreted what you meant. My fault. I was thinking about part 4 of the series regarding how the Tavern League of Wisconsin has so much influence and tries to, and in many cases do, destroy the careers of politicians who oppose them.
Thank you for your nice response.

Boston Bill, I agree wis. has a culture of drinking. read my comments in the "Doyle Wants Tougher Drunk Driving Laws" article. Many of us have been wanting tougher laws for a long time, the timing seems funny to me, that's all. I am sick of the alcohol ads everytime my 18 year old son and I watch a sports event or go to "Miller Park" which is nothing more than a big bar. Sorry for being off topic.

Try2beinformed you did a great job listing departments. But you didn't prove a thing with out number of employees in your sectors listed versus the major employers like the UW system. UW systems have semi and skilled jobs for blue collar workers that need good jobs and find difficulty gaining access into these jobs.

As usual, polert is right again. Those 3 departments must make up 96% of state employees because he says so. Avoiding duplication in the state process will reduce some costs. Don't these depts exist anymore?

The three not included are 96% of the state employees. What a waste of time because we are talking maybe 70 people a year hired only because others retired.
