Council examines conferences and training for possible budget cuts

The Janesville City Council is examining budget reductions in order to give taxpayers a break.

Councilmember George Brunner says he wants to be clear that the council does not want to sacrifice jobs while making cuts. Brunner says he wants a budget with zero tax increases.

The council held a budget study session Wednesday and focused on trimming staff training, conferences and mailing costs. The council has at least one more study session next week to discuss possible reductions.
