MADISON, Wis. (AP) Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen says Wisconsin will receive $954,000 from a multistate settlement with Pfizer Inc. over the marketing of its Celebrex and Bextra products.

The state Department of Justice's share is part of a $60 million settlement filed Wednesday with 32 other states and the District of Columbia.

The states alleged the pharmaceutical giant broke consumer protection laws by misrepresenting facts about potential side effects of the pain relievers.

They also claimed Pfizer tried to sway influential doctors by hiring them as paid consultants and giving them lavish resort trips.

Pfizer does not acknowledge wrongdoing in the settlement but has agreed to change some of its practices.

Wow, Nurse. I am astounded by the price increase. Good health to your daughter I pray, and I also hope we will get this price gouging under control.

So is this why my daughter's monthly prescription of Sildenafil now costs me $648 month instead of the $40 in August 2005? Yes, my daughter takes viagra-it helps keep her alive. She has pulmonary hypertension. Its not like I have a choice- Pfizer has the patent on it until 2011.
So I pay it to keep her alive-a small price to get hugs and smiles from her.

The $60M settlement with the state attorneys general is only one part of a broader settlement of $850M. The remainder goes directly to consumers that were harmed.

.
The company may yet face federal criminal charges relating to the marketing. They have also taken a "hit" in the withdrawal of Bextra and the restricted labeling for Celebrex, all equalling business lost to them.
.
By any rights this was a major fiasco, and I fear that neither the companies nor the regulators have really learned a lesson.

.
Republican Governor Scott McCallum sold off that windfall to the tune of 5.2 BILLION.
.
So you're down on Doyle for 954 THOUSAND? I guess you can ignore a few billion for a republicant, huh?
.
brewersrock... yah, that is a lot of money to most people...but apparently not to Republicans.

What do you mean? That $954,000 is WI's share of $60 million. Maybe you don't think it's a lot of money, but I sure do.

Well that was useless. $954,000 is nothing when you divide it up.
