MADISON, Wis. (AP) More suppliers to the General Motors plant in Janesville are planning mass layoffs Dec. 23 — the same day GM is ending production of sports utility vehicles there.

LSI in Janesville told the state Department of Workforce Development on Tuesday it will lay off 159 workers and stop operations. Flint Services of Janesville said it will close its operation and lay off 28 workers.

Both companies stage materials for the GM assembly line.

Last Friday, Lear Corp. notified the state agency it will lay off 371 workers beginning Dec. 23. Lear supplies interiors and seating systems to the GM plant.

Milton, please do not question my sources. I have been correct with all of my statements over the months. My sources are strong and accurate. I suggest you start to wake up and realized our city is in trouble.

I for one am sick and tired of the petty arguments associated with this whole situation. The energy spent on this should be used on showing what a great workforce we have in this community and try to get new jobs in the area. Or trying to convince GM to stay. Stop the erosion of the middle class. Contrary to popular belief,we aren't living like rock stars on unemployment. Make Janesville a place that employers want to bring their business to by showing them we can work through times like this.

The mall is not and will not close. dont spread unfounded rumors without backing them up in ways other than saying my "sources". Rest assured the mall is a long way from closing.

The party is over my friends. Lots of blame needs to go around like the workers, management and are so called city leaders. My sources tell me that the Janesville Mall will soon be closing. But let's spend millions on our high schools,ok?

All part of the Doyle administration economic plan for WIS. This guy is running the state into a huge hole. The only thing Doyle can or will do is give "An expression of concern".

I was raised in Northern Wisconsin in the late forties when the timber jobs and the saw mills were shutting down. Today those cities are no longer centers of enterprise but ghost towns and it concerns me that another industry will soon have the same effect.

Taxpayers and politicians, neither have to pass an intelligence test to participate in government, but only one of these achieves lifetime security by their participation in the system.

If people are willing to start thinking with Information age thinking "they can get their well dug before they're thirsty"! Times have changed different information and different thinking are in order. Not a theory, this is what's happening.

Sad to hear of this continued misfortune for the hard working class but it is not over yet. If elected Obama will increase your taxes which will lower your income even more than the loss you will feel obtaining a new job. Under Obama's REAL plan you will still have more wealth than those 40% unwilling to work hard. A fact is raising the taxes of 5% percent of the population 3% will not balance the budget. Who will make up the difference YOU.

Ummm....BillyRay remember that all these other places have already laid off half their work force and have been looking for jobs since the end of June. Now the rest will be done the end of December. When you add up the numbers it is right around a 1,000 non GM workers laid off. Not to mention any of the temp service people that may have been used by these companies. It will have an effect on our area. When the unemployment runs out and there are not enough jobs in the area to support this...It will have an effect!

I,have had only 1 speeding ticket and 1 crash ,and that was an educated fool using a laptop and driving and ran into the back of my semi at a stop lite.So I SURE AM GLAD I JUST DRIVE TRUCKS.Thatway you can have your food and fun things, So to nitpickers rember you cant fix stuped.

anusman - you're pretty sneaky coming back with a new user name. I see you got deleted below again. Pretty soon you'll have to come back with another user name. I must admit it's a little creepy that you're going back and responding to all my old posts. You must be angry. By the way, why would I have been deleted? I've never had a comment deleted because I've never said anything offensive.

anusman1000,

If you are so educated because you can spell, what the hell are you doing in Janesville? I have gotten plenty of written communications from people with PHDs with spelling and grammar mistakes.

Hey anusman1000 do you constantly stay on this website to question the writing capability of everybody that blogs. Last I checked they were not writing a book in which it needed to be edited and by the way I go to UW - Madison. So why don't you stick to commenting on the article and not the educational status of these people.
