Wis gas prices $1 lower than month ago
MADISON, Wis. (AP) The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas dropped nearly 6 cents Monday in Wisconsin, continuing a decline that's made filling up at the pumps more tolerable.
The daily fuel gauge report from AAA says the average price in the Badger State is $2.89 a gallon. That's $1 lower than the price a month ago, but 2 cents more than a year ago.
The national average for regular unleaded is $2.92 a gallon, down 3 cents from Sunday, with 35 states now selling gas averaging less than $3 a gallon.
The cheapest gas in the Midwest is in Iowa where it averages $2.64 a gallon for regular.
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, or OPEC, holds an emergency meeting in Vienna later this week to talk about cutting production to shore up oil prices. OPEC countries produce about 40 percent of the world's oil.

There are long-time seasonal variations in gas price. Summertime, people do more driving, so the price rises. It doesn't usually rise in the winter, which is usually a trough for the year. The steep decline in the last month is directly related to the expectation that further economic decline will continue to restrict miles driven.

We need to throw every Opec Executive in this country in Prison, & then put International Warrants out for the ones that are not in this country PLUS.. throw a couple past presidents in jail for putting us in bed with OPEC nations. Next.. We need to come into the 21 century, & use alternative energy sources & stop letting big companies dictate global energy policies, shutting up or buying off inventors when they invent new & better technology. Can anyone say "Corruption"??
