Police investigate political confrontation
CALEDONIA, Wis. (AP) _ Police in Caledonia say they're investigating a weekend attack on a Barack Obama campaign worker.
Nancy Takehara tells WISN-TV she drove from Chicago to help canvass a neighborhood in Caledonia Saturday on behalf of the Democratic presidential nominee.
Ronald Goetsch says he had a heated verbal exchange with Takehara over allegations of voter improprieties in other states and the role of voter registration groups and asked her numerous times to leave his property.
Takehara says Goetsch grabbed her by the back of the neck and was pounding her head and screaming.
Goetsch tells The Journal Times in Racine that he did pull the woman's hair and regrets his actions.
Police say their report on the incident will be forwarded to the Racine County District Attorney's office when it's complete.

No,I'm not. It may not have said it in this article, but I do read more than the gazette and in another paper there was a more indepth interview with this guy.
-Now use some common sense. The canvasser was an Obama supporter. The man said he is voting for McCain. An argument ensued and escalated over voter registration groups, specifically ACORN. I will agree that she should have just left but that doesn't give anyone the right to procede to a physical altercation. Do you really believe that two supporters of Obama would be fighting in this way? Get a grip. There is more evidence to prove my point but that's all your getting from me now.

rockcofarmer, are you sniffing glue? Where in this article does it say this guy is a republican? You know what they say about assuming don't you. In this case, it makes an ass out of YOU, period.

The guy attacks a woman who has a different opinion and you republicans think that is okay. Great roll models for the kids. I'm sure your parents would be proud of the comments you have posted in support of mr. Goetsch. This is what is wrong with the republicans now. They are truly small minded. You right-wingers need some anger management training and maybe a little civility also.

Looks like someone forgot to take their medication. Anyone who believes Phillip J. Nutjob and this moronic waste of our court systems time needs to get a life! Besides, American's are tired of this same old politically based B.S., and that is why McCains ads were so ineffective.

I'm quite certain that nobody has seen this report by the NYC DA's office regarding the female McCain support worker who was attacked on a PUBLIC street by a rabid obamatron. Noooo, this story would most likely not be reported by our "impartial" msm.

If they brought him up on charges the DA knows in a jury trial he would get off clear. People have the right to remove you from their property if they decided, and sometime that requires force. What Ronald has going for him is there was no broken bone, and open wounds which result in a felony. The DA should, and probably will sweep this under the rug considering the facts give here if Ronald has no history.

Canvassing is a very effective and has been used in campaigns across our nation for many years. Republicans and Democrats use this way to try and persuade voters. Violence however should never be condoned.

Both major parties have been canvassing and phone canvassing to help them identify their supporters for many years. As a matter of fact, there was partisan canvassing in 1960 as well. It is not a bad thing! For those who want to keep their vote and their preference secret, they just say that. A violent reaction to canvassing seems way too extreme. I have had Republican and Democratic canvassers contact me this past year. It is no big deal. I will admit that I sometimes get peeved about all the voice mails that are left for me by automated systems this time of year. It is the volume of voice mail that bothers me--not the content. Election season will soon be over. I think we can enjoy the next two weeks for what it is.

I'm sure that Nancy does respect personal (and personnel, polert) freedoms. Coming on someone's property is hardly invading their privacy. If this man doesn't want anyone knocking on his door ("invading his privacy"), he should put up a "No Trespassing" and/or "No Soliciting" sign(s). That is the current societal norm. When a person breaks the law by remaining on your property after you ask them to leave, you should contact law enforcement. Law enforcement will charge them with what is acceptable, not what you demand. Physical violence simply makes you look like an idiot and violates the law.
I personally don't care much for people knocking on my door to tell me about McCain's campaign or tell me about their deity but I have never contemplated physical violence. Politely asking them to leave, telling them to have a great day, and closing the door has always worked for me.

I don't see how it is anyone's business how you are voting. Honestly before I turned legal age to vote I thought it was illegal to ask someone how they voted. I know its dumb but I really did. I do not ask anyone how they will vote and when someone comes to my door asking how I'm going to vote I just ask them to leave, its NO ONES BUSINESS but yours! If you want to volunteer the info than great but not everyone wants people to know who they are voting for.

I agree what is wrong with the world is personal invasion. I believe 40 years ago it would be social unacceptable to enter someones area, property, and life with out first being invited. Nancy has no respect for personnel freedoms. Since there was no arrests at the scene the Police seemed to have the same view. If you want to enter someones space, and they warn you to leave. Then you need to be forced to leave. Goes on at many business, that is why they have security or people trained on how to throw people out off their grounds. Bounce at lets say bars are not hired to be big just for because the owner like big people. A mans home is his castle.

These poll workers are actually asking "who we plan to vote for".. I told one that came to my door, "thats between God, Me, & the Ballot I fill out." I use to be a democrat, but anymore they seem to be out of touch with mainstream citizens.. & they're corrupt behavior has become the norm.. for me.. I can't stomach them anymore.

Why didn't she stay in her own neighborhood? Don't we have enough Obama people in our state to convass a few blocks? Or was she hired by Acorn? Maybe she was a personal friend of his(Obama) and was in the living room of ayers when he launched his career. Anyway we don't need to resort to violence, but she should have shut her mouth and left the persons property when asked. He owns it, she should respect his wishes on HIS property.

The comments below are a wonderful example of what is wrong with our community. A woman has been assaulted and our community members comment on how the violence was acceptable. Not only that, but they threaten people with arrest. Wow Janesville, wow.

Everyone has a right to their beliefs and free speech! We do not have a right to be violent or inflict injury to another person! If you dont want someone on your property call the police, dont result to violence. There is enough hatered and anger in the world. When will we see that violence is not the answer to solving disputes? What are we teaching our children? Its not okay to pull someones hair or touch them in anyway to cause physical harm. That is what this is about!

Nancy Takehara believes what is Ronald Goetsch is her's as well with rights to occupy others property. Obama has that same view also in his spread the wealth program.
People in CALEDONIA, Wis have to much wealth, or at least more than Nancy so they need to share.
The next Obama person that comes to my house I am calling the Police, and demand they are arrested for disorderly conduct, and trespassing. I will do what I have to so they get a ride in the wagon.

I don't understand why anyone would canvas ANY neighborhood in this day and age. Unfortunately, there aren't alot of areas where people can go and rely on their personal safety. It's sad, but that is just the way it is.
