UPDATED: Man dies in Green County crash
BRODHEAD—A 19-year-old Brodhead man died in Green County after a traffic accident that happened just before 10 p.m. Monday.
The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, Ryan D. Strommen, was pronounced dead at 9:43 p.m. at the scene, one-quarter mile west of Brodhead in Decatur Township, by the Green County Coroner’s Office, according to a press release from the Green County Sheriff’s Department.
So far, the investigation shows that the car was traveling east on Decatur Road when Strommen lost control, left the road and hit a tree. He was not wearing a seatbelt, and speed is considered to be a contributing factor to the crash, according to the press release.
An autopsy will be performed to determine if a medical problem contributed to the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
