From the WCLO newsroom:

A Beloit College graduate is one of two American journalists believed to be missing in Lebanon.

Beloit College spokesman Ron Nief says 23-year-old Taylor Luck found his interest in the Middle East as an international relations major at Beloit. Nief says the 2007 graduate from Chicago landed a job with an English-language newspaper, the Jordan Times.

The US Embassy says Luck and another journalist haven't been heard from since October 1 during a vacation to Lebanon. As of Saturday, they've been the subject of a missing person investigation in Lebanon.

Nief says many on campus are waiting for word.

You know, Lebanon is an actual country where people live, and despite high political tensions it is not currently in civil war. For people who live in the region it remains a travel destination (beaches, Western-style amenities). That's not to say that even journalists sneaking into or out of the country aren't taking major risks. But they actually survived their trip and were detained when they LEFT Lebanon.

They were just found today after they were smuggled into Syria. They are being handed over to the American embassy now.
