Judge says he'll likely run for Wis. Supreme Court
MADISON, Wis. (AP) A circuit court judge says he's leaning toward running against Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson in next spring's Supreme Court election.
Randy Koschnick of Jefferson County says he's been getting advice from political consultant Darrin Schmitz and making calls to potential supporters.
He says he'll make a final decision in the next 30 days and announce it sometime after the presidential election.
Schmitz helped Michael Gableman defeat Louis Butler to win a seat on the court in an expensive and nasty race earlier this year. A complaint filed Tuesday alleges Gableman committed judicial misconduct when he ran a television ad suggesting Butler helped free a child molester.
Koschnick says Schmitz won't run his campaign.

Randy Koschnick did not announce that he is hiring Darrin Schmitz, who helped run Gableman's campaign - he just received advice from this political consultant. Sounds like a wise decision to me. Schmitz would be one person who knows what Koschnick can expect if he does decide to run. There is more information in the printed copy of this article found in the October 9th edition.

I really hope that we don't see the mudslinging we saw last time, but since it worked, I suppose we will.

The WMC is too busy collecting the winnings from thier very favorable tax decision heralded in by the last two purchased Supreme Court justices. Isn't it ironic that the last two heavily supported WMC candidates are both being investigated for ethics complaints. The same taxpayers who listened to their lies in the previous two races will be paying back the sales tax money the supreme court decided should be refunded to businesses that bought custom software. Because businness that can afford custom software should certainly not be bothered with paying sales tax.

The WMC could not be reached for comment, although they could be heard over the phone chortling with glee.

Good going Judge Koschnick, on the same day Justice Gableman was found to have run an unethical campaign, you announce you are hiring his same person to run your race. Nice judgement, judge.

"For the second time in just over a year, the state agency that investigates wrongdoing by judges has leveled misconduct charges against a new member of the state Supreme Court. The Wisconsin Judicial Commission on Tuesday alleged that Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman violated the code of judicial conduct by paying for a "false" television ad against former Justice Louis Butler..."
