ELKHORN -- Two Walworth County deputies who shot and killed an armed kidnapping suspect in June near Pell Lake have been cleared of any wrongdoing, the district attorney said.

Deputy Jon Albrecht fired two shots, and Deputy Jamie Green fired one shot, killing Antonio J. Torres, 41, of Pleasant Prairie on Monday, June 30, according to sheriff's reports.

The deputies acted in self defense and in defense of others, Walworth County District Attorney Phil Koss said in a letter to the state Department of Justice.

No inquest will be held to review the case, Koss said.

Albrecht and Green fatally shot Torres after he beat his 1-year-old daughter’s mother in Kenosha and kidnapped the girl, sheriff’s officials said.

Torres then led several patrol cars on a high-speed chase, and he flashed a shotgun during the pursuit, sheriff’s officials said.

Torres later pulled over along County H near Pell Lake and pointed his shotgun at his daughter, sheriff's officials said.

Hallelujah! These Deputies are heroes, they very likely saved this child's life. Any man willing to beat a woman and point a gun at a child is too violent and dangerous to be allowed to be free or alive. Difficult as it may have been for them, they did the right thing.

Good work by the DA's office in this case. The deputies did what they needed to do and stopped a dangerous man. I am sure both of them have been through enough and this might give them closure.
