Absentee voting starts in Wis., but not everywhere
MADISON, Wis. (AP) Absentee voting is under way for the presidential race in Wisconsin — but not quite yet in the state's two largest cities.
Absentee ballots were supposed to be available starting Monday under state law, which requires they be ready 30 days before an election.
But city workers in Madison, Milwaukee and Oshkosh say they are still trying to finalize their ballots. Aides say absentee voting in person should start Tuesday in Madison and Oshkosh, and Wednesday in Milwaukee.
Officials in Green Bay, Racine, Kenosha, Eau Claire and Wausau say absentee voting is under way in those cities.
Government Accountability Board director Kevin Kennedy says it's not unusual for absentee ballots to be delayed for a few days because of technical issues.

I'm sending mine in as soon as I get it... I have been jipped out of the last two or three elections though, because my address on record is still showing up as Japan. Just a couple weeks ago I finally received my absentee ballot for the September ninth election. I've been trying to battle this problem for some time, but I think I've finally solved it. I'll find out in a couple days, I suppose.

"absentee voting in person"? Isn't this an oxymoron?

Remember, Wisconsin (like many states) offers "no excuse" absentee voting, which is functionally the same as early voting. If you request a ballot now (or vote at your municipal or county clerk's service window), you can avoid election-day lines (and glitches, such as finding out at the last minute you need to file a provisional ballot).
