Careful with those eggs: Marshfield boy wins bagging contest
MARSHFIELD, Wis. (AP) — Jared Seidel has it in the bag.
The 18-year-old grocery store employee won the Great Wisconsin Bag-off in Madison this week, earning $500 and an all-expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas to compete in January’s national championship.
Seidel took top honors by placing 40 items cleanly in two paper bags in 45 seconds. The self-described perfectionist says he laughs about his bagging skills but takes his job at Festival Foods in Marshfield seriously.
So do his bosses. Assistant manager John Duerr says baggers have the last contact with customers and need to keep them happy.
Duerr coached Seidel for the bagging competition and says his win “means all our hard work and training is paying off. There’s definitely some bragging rights here.”

Yea, went there is a store that still bags! I love those baggers! It is definitely an art to be proud of! I hate when I realize that the bread was smooshed by the bananas! At that point, it's called a lack of caring when a person doesn't know better to not place chemicals in with foods and heavy objects in with breads, eggs, etc.

I agree about the bragging rights. I am also glad to see that stores are still using paper bags! P.S. I always make a point of thanking the man or woman who bags my groceries (when I actually shop at a store that still does the bagging for me).
