Walworth County agency wins grant money
Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen today announced the award of $47,238 in Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funding to the Association for the Prevention of Family Violence program in Walworth County.
With this funding, the Association for the Prevention of Family Violence (APFV) will provide early intervention and a variety of services including crisis counseling, support groups, a 24-hour crisis hotline, information and referral, criminal justice support and advocacy, emergency legal advocacy, medical advocacy and crime victim compensation assistance to the victims sexual assault and domestic violence in Walworth County.
Association for the Prevention of Family Violence is one of 83 programs that Van Hollen has chosen for more than $7.4 million dollars in funding to help crime victims this year.
Enacted in 1984, VOCA is administered by the US Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime.
An annual state grant is awarded to the Wisconsin Department of Justice Office of Crime Victim Services that awards money to local government and nonprofit agencies that directly serve victims of crime.
Money used by VOCA comes from revenue that is generated by various federal criminal fines, forfeitures, assessments and penalties. No taxpayer monies are used.

Congrats on the grant APFV, nice to see Federal money from fines and forfeitures going to an Agency that truly makes a positive impact on our society.
