OREGON, Wis. (AP) — A Dane County family found it hard to be thankful after a thief made off with their turkey dinner.

Lillian Moore of Oregon says she sent a cooler stuffed with Thanksgiving food to her daughter Cindy, only to have it stolen from her porch.

Moore packed the cooler with half a turkey, potatoes and salad. She left it on her daughter’s porch Wednesday evening because her daughter’s refrigerator was too small to hold the food.

When Cindy Moore went to get the turkey Thanksgiving morning, the cooler was gone.

Cindy Moore says she had to buy turkey using her bill money. The disabled single mother didn’t bother reporting the theft to police.

Lillian Moore says it’s “just awful” to steal from people who don’t have much.

SomeoneSpecial: There is only one Lillian Moore (the mother who sent the food) listed in Oregon under whitepages.com. I'm sure she could direct you on how to help Cindy. There are too many Cindy Moore's in Dane County to figure out which one it is!

u know this is a very sad thing. a friend of mine also almost had to go without thanksgiving dinner for herself and her 4 children. If it wasnt for the generous people that gave her all the trimmings she needed including 2 turkeys there was no way she would have had a great thanksgiving. i cant believe people would stoop so low to steal. it makes me very ill. good luck to this family and god bless all that can help her.

The "Grinch" who stole Christmas is working a little early this year. Hopefully he got sick on what he stole.
