Welcome to winter: Snow advisory issued for area.
Winter is on its way. Dust off those shovels, stretch your back and get ready to grin and bear it until March.
The National Weather Service in Sullivan has issued a winter weather advisory starting at noon Sunday and continuing through 6 a.m. Monday for Rock, Walworth, Jefferson, Green, Dodge, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Washington and Waukesha counties.
Between 3 inches and 6 inches of snow is expected between Sunday noon and Sunday night, southeast of a line running from Monroe to Juneau to Sheboygan.
North to northeast winds from 15 mph to 30 mph could lead to blowing and drifting snow. A winter weather advisory means periods of snow could cause snow-covered roads.

If I could afford a better/bigger snowblower, perhaps I wouldn't mind the snow, but there are more of us than you think that live alone with minimal snow removal paraphanalia! Most of my neighbors are senior citizens who also don't have the "big" snowblowers, and I do my best to help them out, but I can barely clean my own area on my own...and none of us can afford snow removal from a company. I can't stand the thought of getting up 90 minutes earlier just to shovel myself out before getting ready for work! (or with my small snowblower, if I don't sleep and clear the area every two -to three hours, I can get by but I don't think I am quite fit for a work after a night of no sleeping!)If my whole family didn't live in the stateline area, I would be long gone to a warmer state!

Let's hope for 10" or more and We can see if the Interstate blockades will work. We will probably need some volunteers to put them in place.

Wow! I just read this thread and what a refreshing change from all the other message postings that have been going around lately about the economy, GM-bashing (idiots!), and whether or not our newly elected president knows what to do about clean-up duty after "Bush-enomics". Keep up the elusive cheerfulness kids!

The now has started in Beloit, but it's so fine you can hardly see it. I live on a hill and normally HATE the snow, but I don't have to go anywhere until Tuesday so I should be all plowed out by then and the roads should be good. Hubby is off that day so he can drive ;) The kids may end up getting some presents early if they have a snow day tomorrow. Menards had a great sale on snow tubes and the igloo snow block things were only $1. I may go out and help them with that :) Last winter I had to drive a friend to work and back in Janesville because she doesn't drive. Thankfully she moved and I don't have to do that anymore! I hate driving in snow! Now I don't have to if I don't want to! Yay!

I could do without the snow. Snow means I have to take more time for the drive to and from work...already losing 2 hours out of my day on the road! Don't really mind it taking longer to get home from work...just don't like getting up earlier to dig out the car and plan for an extra hour of travel time during inclement weather. Snow just complicates life more....and makes it hard for my blind horse to figure out where he's at (at least until the rest of the herd can make some trails with a scent for him to follow).

tibetrin: I was thinking the same thing! In reviewing lesson plans for school from the last couple of years, I found my notes stating "Snow Day!" on Dec 1. I am a little "snowed" out after last year and could really use a break this year. I think my back and arms are still in pain from last year!

Hmm it's going to be a day early this year. For the past two years, we have had one heck of a snow storm on Dec 1st. Let's hope it stays true to the 3-6 inches and only on Sunday.
