Miller Park sales-tax collection up
MILWAUKEE (AP) The Miller Park stadium district reports that sales-tax collections are 2.73 percent ahead of last year's pace.
That's despite people spending less due to the lagging economy.
District officials report sales-tax distribution totaled nearly $2.5 million through September.
It's about 8 percent lower than the same period last year, but still represents the third highest sales-tax distribution for that time since the 0.1 percent tax was imposed in 1996.
The tax is collected in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Waukesha, Washington and Racine counties and is used to pay for the construction and financing of Miller Park.
The district's executive director Mike Duckett says the numbers reflect the volatility in the amount of sales-tax distributions the district receives each month.
