Racine company to close short of 100th anniversary
RACINE, Wis. (AP) Brannum Lumber will close next month — five months short of its 100th anniversary.
Company president, Dale Anderson, says a funding shortfall in a Teamsters national pension fund, affecting just its two union employees, was the tipping point for the Racine construction supply company.
Also, he says the slumbering home-building industry has been hurting Brannum for about a year.
Brannum's majority owner, Henry Anderson, says the recent closure of Stock Lumber in Sturtevant only added to Brannum's future business prospects.
