Army awards $51 million contract to Oshkosh Corp.
OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) The defense-related division of Oshkosh Corp. has been awarded a $51 million contract to provide armor upgrades for military vehicles.
Oshkosh Defense said Wednesday the contract calls for 660 armor kits to protect a specific type of heavy Army truck.
The company says the trucks have a strong armor component already built in, but the new armor kits can be added for improved safety.
The Oshkosh-based firm says the kit is designed so a two-soldier crew can install it with no special tools.
Shares of Oshkosh Corp. rose 87 cents, or 17 percent, to $5.95 in midday trading Wednesday.

It would have been nice if the Government would have awarded the contract to Oshkosh with a stipulation that they move the production to the Janesville plant building.
