From the WCLO newsroom:

Four Janesville teens sustained injuries in a one car crash on Highway 51 at the Rock and Beloit town line around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon.

The Rock County Sheriff's Department reports the car, driven by 18-year-old Krystal Rucks of Janesville, was driving at a high rate of speed when she attempted to turn into a parking lot and struck a concrete block supporting a sign.

Rucks and her passengers, 18-year-old Jordan Riggs, 17-year-old Tyler Richards, and 18-year-old Jaime Onofre, all of Janesville, were cited for underage drinking. Rucks was also charged with causing injury by the intoxicated use of a motor vehicle and causing bodily harm by reckless driving.

Onofre sustained facial trauma and was transported to UW Hospital in Madison while the others were treated for non-life threatening injuries at Beloit Memorial Hospital and released.

etown,
Thank you. That was exactly my point. The school system should deal with some of this stuff in the school system. What happened to Saturday detention? And what is the point of OSS? In my opinion, you are rewarding the kids by giving them a few days off school! Most of these kids are left home alone because parent/parents are at work during the day. So, the kid sits home, sleeps in late, watches tv and plays video games. Yeah, thats punishment. As a parent who is lucky enough to stay home, when my child had OSS, the day was spent washing walls and cleaning after I made sure work that was missing was made up. No fun time here. But, that is not the case for most of the kids.
And who is it punishing when it is the parent who has to pay for an attorney and cost costs? I am involved in my childs school and try to back them as much as possible but these kids that are mearly testing the boundries don't belong in the court system!
Kids who fight, bring drugs, weapons, etc., belong in the court system. Not some poor girl who in a emotionally break down yells something inappropriate or swears. Disorderly conduct charges in that situation is just plain stupid!

trish , you are right alot of charges on a young person record now comes from the school system, rather then deal with the problem they just shove it off into the court system , and if that dont work then we send them to our school for all the bad kids and let them have half days , and alot of free time. so anyone who doesnt want to be in school just act out and we will take the pressure off. no wonder so many more kids are in trouble

I agree disorderly is a confusing charge for me too. I have found, in the school system, you can be charged for disorderly for a vast extreme of behaviors. One child that suffers from emotional shut downs(school definition:refusal to respond/disrespectful) can be "arrested" for disorderly, another child will get disorderly for getting into an all out fist fight in which the teachers/police also get hit while trying to break it up. Another child has a break down and yells at the teacher, "I don't care" in a flurry of emotion, disorderly. A child can be "arrested" for disorderly on such a wide range of behaviors, I put little stock in that charge.
The other charges, theft, child neglect, etc. are something else.

hannah just because someone might have a record doesnt mean theyre bad people yeah jamie has 3 disorderly conducts, you know that you can get a disorderly conduct for yelling at someone right? good people make the wrong decisions everyday, and the 3 ppl riding in the car dont have an influence on the actual drivers decisions im sure if jaime was driving none of this wouldve happen in the first place

Okay... Time for my two cents....

First off... before I get my head bit off because "everyone drinks" I DON'T!

These "children" decided to put people's lives at risk by drinking and driving. That should be viewed as attempted homicide. These little brats got drunk and went for a joy ride... And could have killed a whole lot of people, but didn't. They are lucky. BUT THEIR LUCK WILL RUN OUT! If they get away with this, it will happen again, and who knows how many people will suffer when they crash into.... A mini van? Or even a small car?

I have said it before and I will say it again... If you drink and drive, you need to be punished. Nobody deserves to lose someone the love because a bunch of little brats decided to "have a good time".

And to all the little teenagers who "know these kids well". Then maybe you need to tell them what idiots they are.

I agree and disagree with most on this blog.Ok,the girls have a record, but they are young enough society should not throw them away.Everyone has been young and dumb at one point. Were you thrown away? As far as ccap, that is a double edged sword.Knowing someones past can be good if he/she is caring for a family member, borrowing money or renting an apt. However,I STRONGLY disagree with checking it on someone just because you feel like it. It is rude.Trust can never be built between 2 people when it isnt there from the begining and it can seriously hurt a friendship.(yes,I speak from experience). It is also very embarrassing.Im not the person I was some years ago,so why check my history if you are a potential friend? Doesnt sound very friendly to me!! Ccap should not be made public to just anyone!

One other thing is in ccap read the whole file as charges that are dismissed are still there which I think if your not guilty should be renoved!!!!!!!! I had charges because of my name used by another and the are still there If you were to look me up most things against me are dismissed but the public see the amount of charges and i look like a real crimial. If I am innocent then the charges should not be removed from this site. and I have had to prove my innocence more then once. NOT PLEA BARGAINS OR READ INTO RECORD "DISMISSED" cases!!!!! And I am not the only one. I do have some cases that I am responsible for and I have made changes in my life so I dont get anymore!!!

Sad situation here. The kids may have a record but one was hurt pretty serious and yes kids do stupid things and now the young girl (18) will have a serious record. I know 3 of the 4 and they party alot. Now maybe they will wake up (I HOPE) and all the other kids they hang with will see this and think twice before partying. As to the under age drinking 17 no 18 maybe as I think as someone else stated If you can serve your country you should be able to have an option to drink or not. Another thing are all the people that post non drinkers? did you ever have a drink before you were 21? I know I did and drinking age was 18 when i did and i went to many parties when I was a teen. I now longer drink as "I grew up." I know that everyone who posts in here is not perfect and a few have gotten behind the wheel a car after having a drink or "2"
and most likely a few drank under age. IMO IMO

ihavealife, i read in one of your post you said if your gonna quote me ,get it right, where did i say i dont check on renter s i said i dont use ccap to do so, when asked about sex offenders living next door , i said there is a sex offender website, what i said was when suggested i should look up family friends and neighbors on ccap was i had no interest into snooping into their lives, and that i think its unfair wisconsin has this online when most states dont, if you go to the story on father accused of son still critical hannah was also over there trying to egg me into an argument , i never commented her back,so maybe you should be scolding your friend

Whatever, between the 4 of them they have:

Robbery
Retail Theft
Neglect to a child
2 Thefts of movable property
4 Disorderly Conducts
Several underage drinking

Maybe I have some time to unwind after working all day and after reading the comments I got curious and looked them up myself. I think reading what I read about the four of them tells a lot about their character. Big Losers!
It's embarrasing to have your name appear on CCAP (mine is on there for 2 judgements against me for my loser ex-husband, 1 traffic ticket-no sticker on my plates, divorce, and one for hitting my loser ex-husband after he hit me first). But it looks as though at 18 these kids already are on the path to no good.

No need for much concern here. It was a 1 car accident and no one died. There will be plea bargains for all with fines and suspended sentences distributed accordingly after a thorough tongue lashing from our D.A. and perhaps a judge. Then these youngsters will be back on the roads soon in a neighborhood near you after having learned their lessons taught so well by our efficient and cost-conscious criminal justice system.

did i ask you if you did? but do you do the same for every story or do you pick and choose, did you look up the people you were preaching so highly of the other day , you have completely missed my point, when it becomes fair and every state can be logged on to and every person can be looked up by the click of a mouse , then i will support this right now its unfair that some you can and some you cant, small town courts dont report to this either, the only reason any one would go look and then come back and report in a blog is to cause the person in the story more harm ,so much for the act of kindness from the gazette readers

etown
Nov 19, 2008 at 5:17 p.m.

what happened to all the kindness you were talking about on another blog, the helping people? what you think people cant make mistakes and then learn from them , i dont feel the need to know everyone elses dirty laundry or problems, so no i will not look up my neighbors and friends, whats important to me is how they treat me and the life they live that im involved in, its my choice whether to allow somone s problems to affect my life , and i dont need the ccap to check on renter s thats what they have credit checks for , it tells you alot more then you will learn on ccap.the best part is you have their permission to look so your just not snooping and in some cases what s on ccap is illegal to use against people ,but for you to sit on one blog and preach kindness and get along with your neighbors, overlook how they are interrupting your life its a good cause, and then say its ok to spy on your neighbors through the court system , is double talk,

wow im surprised they removed yaboys comments they werent that bad, and i have to agree that anyone who goes on ccap and look people up they dont have a reason to, need more in their lives to do , and my guess is if they had to take their butt off from in front of their computer and go to the court house to look it up they would be to lazy to do so, they have probably also looked up all their neighbors ,friends ,family and their children, the only way this will be fair is if every state puts all their info on the internet so everyone can be looked up , until then wisconsin needs to restrict access to this site, and dont worry about the other comment s yaboy shes a serial blogger without a life,

hannah, if we are serious about saving lives on the road we would have mandatory driving classes throught our lives. Then we would make anyone over 65 y.o. take a driving test every 5 years or less. Older people, probably, cause more accidents yet they are unaware they have because they only see 5-12' in front of their car (this was a fact at one time). I write this realizing this would be approaching quickly for me but believe it would make the roads safer for everyone and a hassle for my kids to drive me around.

This is very sad. If there is not some serious intervention in these kids lives, they will be having a more permanent address out at the corner of Hwys 14 and 51. Anything from theft, to underage drinking to disorderly conduct. I sure hope that they can get the help that they ALL need to find their way back on the path of good choices and responsible living. I can only hope that this accident may have been a serious wakeup call for all of them.

I drove through there shortly after it happened and I know a few other of my co-workers did as well. I hope these kids feel lucky. That is a very high time in that area for "school buses" dropping off children. Im glad they didnt hurt any of those kids. Push the entire book at them. They are old enough to know better!!!!!

3:30 in the afternoon and they had been drinking!?!?! Oh but I'm sure they are good kids who just made a little mistake. They are darn lucky they didn't kill themselves or an innocent school child walking home from school. Let's just slap their little wrists and send them on their way. I wonder how many more times we will see their names in the paper for drunk driving.
